Classic American muscle tops the list at Mecum Kissimmee

Intense. Classic. Unprecedented.

These are the words that were used to define the eighth day of bidding at Mecum Kissimmee 2016. Dana Mecum, himself, labeled the day’s “Monumental Muscle” event as unprecedented and, as it turned out, he was not exaggerating a bit.

With standing room only on the auction floor, and live broadcasting on NBCSN, vintage Chrysler dominated the top 10 sales of the day.

The hammer lowered on a $2,675,000 bid for the coveted 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible, a piece of Hemi-powered history. One of five four-speed Hemi Cuda convertibles built in 1970, this Lemon Twist Yellow beauty retains its original 426 Hemi® engine plus a list of extra-cost options, including the highly sought-after shaker hood.

Top five sales on Friday’s bids were all vintage Chrysler:

  5. 1969 Dodge Hemi Coronet R/T Convertible (Lot F105) $625,000

As of auction close on Sunday, January 24, 2016, the results reflected a strong desire to own a piece of vintage American muscle. Here are the top 10 sales for Mecum Kissimmee 2016. The Dodge Brothers would be proud.
