Chrysler Capital Test Drive: 2019 Ram 1500 Limited Crew Cab 4×4

When purchasing a vehicle, one of the most important factors in making your decision is the test drive.

This part of the car-buying process presents the best opportunity to get an up-close-and-personal look at your potential ride. It also provides an opportunity to interact with the dealership and learn any information to help inform your decision.

On a sunny spring day, we went out for a test drive of our own. For this edition, we went behind the wheel of the 2019 Ram 1500 Limited Crew Cab 4×4.

BACK SEAT

Before hitting the road, I toured around the new Ram pickup to take in both its exterior and interior features. Out of all the aspects the sales representative and I observed, the spaciousness of the back seat was one of the most impressive.

My legs had plenty of room to spare when I stepped in, and a part of me could have taken a power nap after discovering I could recline in the rear seats*. Additionally, available heated seating as well as USB ports are available with the rear seating. Passengers also have an outlet to plug in even more devices.

Having so much room to stretch and be comfortable could make the Ram feel like an ideal family vehicle for a memorable road trip.

DRIVER’S SEAT

Getting behind the wheel nearly felt more like stepping into a command center, highlighted by the available 12-inch touchscreen (standard Ram 1500 displays are eight inches). I was astounded by the picture quality, and seeing the rear-view camera** on the touchscreen gave me a clear view when backing out.

Most of the technology features run through the display, from the available Uconnect® 4C Navigation*** to the available Apple CarPlay®**** or Android Auto™***** capabilities.

I could have spent the entire day just looking at all the available features in the Ram 1500 Limited Crew Cab, but eventually the moment arrived to put the truck into drive and set out on the open road.

THE DRIVE

I must admit, my experience driving trucks is few and far between. Since I started driving, the largest vehicles I’ve owned have been four-door sedans. Usually when I take the wheel of a truck or SUV, I feel like I take up the entire road and have zero room for error.

However, once I hit the accelerator, I felt right at home with the Ram truck. Right from the get-go, I drove with an ease and comfort like I had owned the pickup for years. As we ventured through residential areas, I was in awe at just how seamlessly and quietly the Ram 1500 Limited went over speed bumps or potholes.

According to the CDJR dealer representative, that quality represents one of the notable improvements of the 2019 edition in comparison to previous models.

“There’re a lot of shock absorbing and sound controlling features,” he said. “The component parts are all being designed for strength and durability as well as quietness and performance.”

Overall, there was a safeness and security behind the wheel throughout the test drive. The 2019 Ram 1500 Limited Crew Cab 4×4 truly aspires to provide almost anything a driver may need, from entertainment for the whole family to its powerful hauling and towing capabilities.
